Framing your question
An answer brings no illumination unless the question has matured to a point where it gives rise to this answer which thus becomes its fruit. Therefore learn how to put a question.
– Egyptian Proverb
Framing your question with precision is essential if you are to achieve the most beneficial result. Your questions need to be unambiguous and capable of a straight ‘yes’ or ‘no’ answer. They also need to be asked with serious intent. An irresponsible approach or a frivolous question is unlikely to reveal anything of lasting benefit, and could actually do harm as crystals are powerful tools that pick up and amplify your thoughts. They should be treated with respect.
Take time to prepare yourself to ask the question. Sit quietly for a few moments, bringing your focus away from the outside world and quietening your mind. Word your question carefully. If, for instance, you ask: “Is this the right crystal for me?” the answer could well be ‘yes’ but it may not refer to the chakra or condition you are dealing with at that precise moment. It could indicate a crystal that would give you long-term benefit for an, as yet, unrecognized issue or potential energy shift that exists at an emotional, mental or soul level. That crystal could well be of value to you in the long term, but it would not heal the immediate situation, or work on the specific chakra. You need to be specific. If you are finger dowsing (see page 169), ask: “Is [name of crystal] the best and most appropriate crystal to balance my sacral chakra at this time?” If you are pendulum dowsing (see page 170), ask: “Please show me the best and most appropriate crystal to balance my sacral chakra now.”
